In December 2006, we were invited to participate in a very unique project. For the the first time in 50 years, a brand new 1957 Chevy would be manufactured - using 100% off the shelf parts! These parts are part of the extensive inventory which can be found at CARS Inc. From the chassis right on up through the top frame, not one part was an old part. Our contribution was to supply CARS Inc with the convertible top and assorted soft parts as we have done for over 15 years, the same as found on many award winning show cars sporting CARS Inc parts.

We were asked to provide our standard convertible top and fullvue to demonstrate how precise the remanufactured parts are. For this project, we manufactured two tops. While the base car is identical in every way to an original - the modified suspension, drive train and wheels gave us inspiration to make this a truly unique build. We produced our standard top and fullvue but also produced an updated version.

We showed up at the build site with both tops- the new top being unannounced. For this build, we modified our standard pattern and produced a Custom rear glass assembly. While the original car never had a rear glass, the new unit fit right in without any hitches. Not only does our standard pattern not require altering for the new car, the new top and glass package can be fitted to any of the older original cars WITHOUT ANY MODIFICATIONS for true customization!

The finished project was unveiled at the 2007 Detroit Autorama. For more build photos and info - www.carsinc.com

We thank our friends at CARS Inc for these photos and the opportunity to be a part of this project!
