ARO pattern 261© For ALL 71-76 GM ALL SCISSORS FRAME Rear window assembly
The picture below shows the existing rear window assembly after the convertible top has been removed. Your convertible top and glass are two separately installed items. The rear window assembly is material in which the glass is mounted by bonding the glass to the vinyl surrounding the glass. The glass shown below has white vinyl trim - which matches the convertible top. The rear glass assembly is installed first and the convertible top is installed over it. The window has a zipper which mates to the zipper in the top we supply. When ordering a top or window only, we include the extra zipper half to be sewn onto your existing top or window, in the event either item no longer has the correct zipper. Both top and window are attached to tacking trim bars below the body. The assembly is stapled to various points on the top frame and tacking bars. If the material holding the glass in proper position is in good shape, you may remove your old top and install the new top over your existing glass assembly.
No installation center has the type of machinery required to properly bond new material to OLD LOOSE glass As shown below - this is the entire rear window assembly that must be ordered to accomplish the proper installation if the material is separating from your glass or if the glass has completely fallen out of the shell.
