BMW 1987-93 TOP STRAPS (PADS) MUST BE REPLACED IF WORN. TOP WILL NOT FOLD PROPERLY, CAUSING CUTS OR HOLES WHEN TOP IS RAISED OR LOWERED. BULLETIN 54 05 93 ADVISING CAUSE OF HOLES IN RIGHT REAR QUARTER DUE TO SINGLE TOP MOTOR ON PASSENGER SIDE PULLING TOP TOO TIGHTLY WHEN LOWERED. FRAME COMPONENTS & TOP BOOT COVER CAN SNAG OR PINCH FABRIC COVERING.
BMW 1996-ON Z3 SEVERE ABRASION OF TOPPING LEADING TO CUTS OR TEARS IN TOP, SEVERE CREASING OF PLASTIC WINDOW. PROBLEMS DUE TO FRAME DESIGN, TOP DESIGN & BODY COMPONENTS
FORD MUSTANG 1983-93 SERVICE BULLETIN 90-6-2 HAS BEEN ISSUED ADVISING OF PROBLEMS IN 1989 FRAMES  WHICH CAN CUT OR TEAR TOPS, & SUGGESTED REPAIR PROCEDURES.
GM CAVALIER TECH BULLETIN 63-10-49,63-15-15 ADVISE OF FRAME PROBLEMS IN 1995-ON CAVALIER & SUNFIRE MODELS. REPORTS OF CONTACT WITH BENT BACK SEAT BACKREST CAUSING HEADLINING & TOP TO SNAG WHEN LOWERED. CONTACT CAUSING LISTINGS TO PULL OFF & DAMAGE TO THE TOP.
MAZDA MIATA EARLY B PILLAR RETAINERS MAY NOT BE IN SOME EARLY MODELS. CHECK & INSTALL MAZDA PART #'S NA01-R1-272 / NA01-R1-271 BINDING GUARDS. THESE PARTS MUST BE INSTALLED TO PREVENT SEVERE ABRASION TO THE BOTTOM OF THE TOP.
MBENZ 129 BODY 1990-ON S/B 77/37 DESCRIBES DAMAGE TO THE TOPPING & SEAMS , & REAR WINDOW ASSEMBLY. DAMAGE INCLUDES FRAYING, CUTS, TEARS DUE TO ABRASION, PINCHING, HOLES, ETC. REAR WINDOW DAMAGE INCLUDES CREASING & BREAKING OF PLASTIC. DAMAGE CAUSED BY TOP FRAME & BODY COMPONENTS.
MERCURY CAPRI SERVICE BULLETINS 91-18-4,91-12-3,91-21-1,91-22-3,91-24-5 HAVE BEEN ISSUED REGARDING WATER LEAKS, PROBLEMS WITH TOP FRAMES WHICH CAN CUT OR TEAR TOPS, & SUGGESTED REPAIR PROCEDURES.
SAAB 1987-93 S/B 03/93-0316 ADVISES TOP FRAME COMPONENTS CAUSING POSSIBLE PINCHING & SEVERE ABRASION LEADING TO CUTS, TEARING & HOLES.
SAAB 1994-ON MULTIPLE SERVICE BULLETINS REGARDING FAILURE OF BOND OF MATERIAL TO GLASS, PINCHING OR EXCESSIVE ABRASION DUE TO DESIGN PROBLEMS IN THE FRAME, BODY COMPONENTS & GENERAL TOP DESIGN. LATE MODELS MIGHT REQUIRE DEALER RECALIBRATION OF ON BOARD COMPUTER SETTINGS AFTER INSTALLING NEW TOP.
TOYOTA CELICA 1984-89 DUE TO FRAME & TOP DESIGN, TEARS CAN DEVELOP DUE TO EXCESSIVE PINCHING & ABRASION.

CHRYSLER LEBARON 1987-ON DUE TO FRAME DESIGN, ABRASION DAMAGE CAUSED BY UNCOVERED BOW ENDS THRU OUTER COVERING AS WELL AS REAR LINKAGE  ABRASION CUTTING THROUGH PADS.

Porsche Service Bulletin Group 6-61 28 55 - describes problems with the cable sleeve channel binding/hanging up when the top is raised/lowered, causing side cables to tear away from the top, abrading/wearing/tearing the cable casing, possible cable breakage. The bulletin describes replacement parts to be installed and necessary repairs needed to the frame to correct this problem.

NOTICE: Known issues with Porsche Boxster convertible top motor gears wearing, convertible transmission arms bending, and convertible transmission cables repeatedly separating from arms. Occurrences reported in vehicles with OEM or replacement convertible tops
